We talked earlier about Deloitte's Womens Initiative Network blog as a candid, frank, heart-warming, cut-to-the-real-stuff writings from women at Deloitte. http://bigfouralumni.blogspot.com/2006/09/deloitte-wins-with-honest-engaging.html#links
This was an internal blog meant mainly for Deloitte's men and women professionals, and now Deloitte & Touche USA LLP has launched it as an external blog, claiming this is "the first corporate blog to explore the issues and personal experiences women and men face in pursuit of career advancement and work/life balance; and provides a forum for candid discussions that aim to help professionals enhance their careers and find ways to make flexibility and choice a staple of the workplace. "
The blog is hosted by Cathy Benko, Principal and High Technology Sector Leader for Deloitte Consulting LLP and National Managing Director of Deloitte’s Women’s Initiative. She was nice enough to leave a comment on our earlier posting at https://www2.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=13890598&postID=115888916471229902
The blog goes live for the general public after 18 months as a popular internal virtual meeting place for Deloitte colleagues.
Refreshingly, going public in a very open manner does not seem to have curtailed the frank and Dilbert-like comments in the blog. It pushes the envelope, challenges the norms and makes corporate work more natural and in tune with real life. We like that!

I do wish others among the Big Foiur could see the value this type of discussion engenders. Between them, they reflect a good cross section of the issues any organisation might face. This gives them an opportunity to show they understand the issues and solutions.
Sadly the bits and pieces I have seen to date are below par.
WIN needs all the encouragement it can get. It's got my vote!
Seems to be a worthy companion to the PwCPeople blog at http://pwc.blogs.com/pwcpeople/ which also deals with the work life balance in professional services. I think these are really useful resources for anyone contemplating a job in large firms (or a switch between firms!).
Thanks for the nice post!
