(blog) We saw very recently an article in The Guardian of the UK which compelled us to really look at the footnote at the end of each Deloitte formal press release.  And it’s true. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, or Deloitte, has quietly moved its legally registered HQ from Switzerland to the UK, as noted astutely by the Guardian – full credit to them....

Chief Financial Officers of large US companies are some of the smartest, strategic and pragmatic of senior executives.

With their deep knowledge of purse strings over billions of dollars, they know quite well how their companies are doing and their plans for the future.

Indeed a good bunch to listen to for an insightful idea of the future. Deloitte reached out to hundreds in May 2010 to get inputs on a whole host of questions. And the results show good optimism on the financials but dismal projections for job growth.

Promises, Promises: Deloitte and Ernst & Young Ante Up to Reduce Gases

We always thought that only large manufacturers and chemical companies signed up to reduce environmental pollution and greenhouse gases.

Wait! accountants, tax professionals and consultants can pitch in too for cleaner air (and water).

So, we were a little surprised to see Deloitte and E&Y sign up to reduce their GHGs by 20% over a ten year period from today in the greater Waterloo, Ontario Canada region.

Apple iPad Priced at $499, Impact on Deloitte Study

So Apple just announced the price of the iPad at $499 and that it will be available in March and April 2010.

We earlier had speculated a price of $1,000 and 20 million units, at half the price, lets assume that price-elasticity moves the numbers sold to 35 million (Note that Apple just announced it had sold 250 million iPods), the incremental sales are $17.5 billion, that's only a few billion below our previous number....

Big Four Firm Get Top Spots in Business Week Best Career Companies Ranking

Great news for Big Four Alumni! You made the right choice for your career.

Business Week Magazine just came out with its list of “100 Best Places to Launch A Career in 2008.” And all four of the Big Four firms this year are in the top 5 of that list, the only other is the ultra prestigious investment banking firm of Goldman Sachs...

All Big4 Firms On Fortune's 100 Best Companies To Work For

All Big Four firms recently made it to the recent Fortune magazine's listing of Top 100 US Companies to work for. This ranking is highly anticipated and widely quoted. Deloitte even carried a press release on their inclusion on their website.

Leading the pack in the list was Ernst and Young at #57, followed by KPMG at #71, PricewaterhouseCoopers at #90, and Deloitte at #95.

And here are more interesting numbers from the report. Keep in mind that these are the US firms of the larger international Big Four partnerships, and while some numbers pertain to the US, some others (such as revenue) are for the global firm:

Big Four Firms Report Tremendous 2007 Results

The Big4.com 2007 Firms Performance Analysis

The Big Four accounting firms had a banner year in 2007 with double-digit revenue growth on the heels of strong performances in 2006 and 2005. KPMG had the highest annual growth rate among the firms with 17.4%, followed by Deloitte at 15.5%, Ernst and Young at 15% and PricewaterhouseCoopers bringing up the rear at 14.4%. Despite this relatively slower growth, PwC remains the planet’s largest accounting firm with 2007 revenues of $25.2 billion, ahead of Deloitte at $23.1 billion, E&Y at $21.1 billion with KPMG being relatively the smallest firm at $19.8 billion...

Deloitte and Touche: Revs up 16% to $23 Billion

Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (Deloitte) recently reported revenues were up by 15.5% to US$23.1 billion for the fiscal year ended 31 May 2007. This is the firm's fifth consecutive year of double-digit revenue growth with each service line and region increasing at double-digit rates...

Deloitte to Pay $130 Million to Parmalat Shortly

We earlier blogged that Deloitte had settled with Parmalat to pay US $149 million for its role in the bankruptcy of the Italian dairy company.

Now we understand it is time to pay....Parmalat SpA says that Deloitte have a few days to come up with the money, and apparently Deloitte will pay $130 million as a first installment...

Deloitte Gets A Reprieve in Parmalat Case

And in another ruling by Judge Kaplan…he has adjourned a damages case filed by Italian dairy firm Parmalat against its former bankers and auditors to December 31, 2006 to see if the parties can work out a settlement. This trial was set for middle of 2007, but if all parties could workout something, then the trial itself could be avoided....
